A
Message to Greater Hartford Voters
You, the greater Hartford
community, should be very proud of yourselves. 80% of
registered voters went to the polls on election day. We met many
of you during our non partisan work to register thousands of new
voters and renewed voters.
The enormous public
response on November 4th showed a renewed interest in
government and politics. This is truly a time when active
citizen participation in our new administration is needed. We,
the League of Women Voters of Greater Hartford , ask the
electorate to maintain your enthusiasm. Study the events
related to our economic problems and respond to your newly
elected legislators as they attempt to right things with new
laws and policies. Provide input and respond to positions. Use
this newspaper to follow congressional votes. Use your online
capabilities both for information and to contact the offices of
elected officials. Use television to follow debates and voting
results on Public Access channels. All levels of government;
federal, state and local government will be severely impacted by
current economic problems. Your input is important.
Continue to make your
voices resoundingly heard as it was on election day.

Greater Hartford |
Veteran
and new members of the League of Women Voters of Greater
Hartford who participated in poll reporting for the Presidential
and State Elections gathered for a post-election party to
celebrate and discuss experiences at the polls. The Associated
Press requested assistance from the League to facilitate rapid
reporting from precincts across the region. LWVGH covered 39
locations for AP which supplied many media outlets with election
results. AP is making a contribution to the League for the
reporting service. Members look forward to other opportunities
to work together. |
